ABOUT US

Ever since I was a little girl, I loved teaching. My imagination created stories and games that I usually played alone. From foraging herbs to make a “soup” to gathering my stuffed animals and pretending I was a teacher and they were my students. When I grew up I chose to be a kindergarten teacher. I think I have always considered myself to be a child at heart. I got to invent activities and content for children to learn while playing. I enjoyed creating teaching materials with paints, crayons and paper. When I became a mother I loved exploring and learning with my two daughters and in the most natural way, we turned a specific place in the house into a classroom and enjoyed homeschooling. We learned about nature and we learned about history. We cooked, had picnics, and made art.! I later taught  in the traditional system for many years but kept looking for a less traditional way to continue teaching. I moved to Antigua and I opened an art studio where I work on my art and also offer art classes for kids.

I believe that children need to learn in a relaxed, safe environment where they are free to learn at their own pace and on their own way. I came around the concept of worldschooling and unschooling and  I knew in my heart I wanted to be part of it.   I worked for a year in a worldschooling hub and now I am excited to co create and lead the Antigua Global Explorers World School hubs and camps.  I am a teacher, a mom, a Guatemalan that loves her country and world and has a passion for working with kids and guiding them while they discover this part of the planet.
