What is PAL and why we feel is important?
We believe in physically active lifestyle and we support all the reasons of why is important. But, what is PAL and what are the benefits of including PAL in our worldschool hubs?
PAL, or physically active lifestyle is the term we use for incorporating as much physical activity as possible in everything we do. The main idea is to make our hubs fun but also healthy for the mind, body, and ultimately the spirit. It is the perfect combo!
Our 4 pillars (Ecology, Creative Exploration, Local Culture and Physically Active Lifestyle) are all important to us, and PAL is an essential aspect of how we do what we do...always moving and in contact with the outdoors. Having a location of our hub inside a coffee and avocado plantation is a luxury we don't take for granted. By incorporating outdoor-fitness and active games, it allow us and the children to explore what nature offer us while incorporating all the benefits of active lifestyle.
The more obvious of all the benefit is your health. Not only improves muscular, cardiovascular and bone health, but good aspects of PAL reaches your brain and academic performance. It also keeps a healthy weight in check.
Health

Research has found that the incorporation of active lifestyle increases confidence, self esteem and greatly reduces anxiety.

One of the benefits found in including daily activity to your routine is the positive effect it has on concentration and time on task in other activities.

Because it is fun, exciting and enjoyable. Trying to make this active lifestyle fun is also key and esencial if you want to make it also sustainable. We try giving as much freedom of choice in how to apply PAL, but ultimately, we all have a prefer way of being active and exercise.

All of our daily physical activities are done in an outdoors environment and connecting our young explorers with our other HUB pillar, eco-intentions. There are multiple researches that show a wide range of benefits when we spend time outside receiving sun light and fresh air.
